Genesis 24:14-27 ASV

Jesus said an evil and perverse generation seeketh a sign. But he was talking about people who require a miracle or sign in order to believe. But seeking a sign for direction is a totally different story. We have to make a lot of decisions in our lives that are extremely important. God gives us general guidelines for many important decisions about our education, finances, and even marriage, but He does not spell everything out for us.

I think that as long as we are obeying what we know to be God's will according to His Word, He will make sure we don't make any major blunders in life. Still, there is nothing wrong with asking God for very specific signs in order to get clear direction as Abraham's servant did in this passage. God honored his request, and led the right worman for Issac to him. It's important that we pray about all of our major decisions and ask for direction whether we seek a specific sign or not.

On a more personal note when my husband and I were dating, he called me his Rebecca. That was so sweet and romantic.
