It's amazing to me the condition of this scripture.
The Latin phrase Ex Nihilo or "out of nothing" comes to mind.

I believe the first 5 words of the Bible are intentional and imperative for these three reasons.

-In a world where everything is in a constant state of change there is something that never does. In the beginning God. We have something we can truly rely on... something kind of "meta-natural" :)

-Unlike modern science the creation here is from nothing... no ingredients. There is no doubt that science can do some amazing things with our natural ingredients. But the first 5 words of the Bible answer the origin of those natural ingredients.

-Follow me on this... any destination needs a point of origin. You can't know how to get anywhere unless you know where you are starting from. My degree was tightly woven with philosophy. All through time people have been looking for meaning. If life's meaning is your destination, Genesis 1:1 is your point of origin.

Hopefully that will help someone! A few thoughts on Genesis 1:1 :)
