Psalm 5:7

The word that David uses here is perhaps my favorite word in the Old Testament. It is the word "Chesed" (kheh'·sed) and is used 253 times. The richness of this word is that it is not just "mercy" like a judge that is not giving you what you deserve, but rather it is a true desire or zeal for someone else. I see this as the image of God leaning towards me with an eager and ardent desire to show me his love.

Notice that David was amazed by this fact that God would desire him to enter his "house" and the result for David (as it should be for us as well) was worship. "in reverence (yir'ah - literally "fear" - the fear of the Lord) will I bow down toward your holy temple." The great power of the love of God in my life is that is produces this amazing sense of wonder and desire to give him my entire life. This is truly what worship is a response to the love of God.
