I was practically born in the church. I've been a Christian since 3rd grade church camp. I've been an actual Christ-follower only in the last few years. One would think that after 29 years full of Sunday School, VBS, Church Camps, church services, Bible studies, small groups, deep conversations and some spiritual disciplines, this verse wouldn't cause me to struggle this much. Why is it so hard to walk right up and ask God for help? He's right there - just waiting for us to ask. With a handful of mercy waiting just for us.

14 Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers.15 We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin.16 So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.
