Excuses
One of the things that I am quickly learning about God is that he doesn't have the word "can't" in his vocabulary. I know that just reading that seems kind of silly; of course God can do anything. Yet he often asks us to do some big, hairy, audacious stuff, just like he did with Jeremiah. Here, Jeremiah's initial response was, "No, I can't do it." I've certainly said that a few times myself to God. But God's response is always, "Don't tell me what you can and can't do. I made you. I know. I'll make that call." Maybe when God asks me or calls me somewhere, I'll learn from Jeremiah 1:7-8 and remember that God doesn't want my excuses. He wants my action and my faith that he will guide, direct, and help me each step of the way.
