It appears that Jesus was irritated with the disciples because they couldn’t cast out the demon (although one can conjecture that Christ might have been reacting to the relentless demands of a needy Israel that still continued in their unbelief). One has to wonder if Jesus became irritable with his disciples for failing to cast out a demon after “only” three years of training, what is his level of frustration with the contemporary church?
