The Bible is More Than We Think
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NKJV)
First off, this verse makes just about the biggest claim of all time, Scripture is written by inspiration of God. In the NIV translation, it even says that Scripture is "God-breathed". The living Word... that's interesting, since God also breathed life into man. God's breath seems to have some powerful qualities, and I think we sometimes overlook that.
"for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete"... justification. God's tells us the building's on fire, then He tells us where the exit is. Usually, you notice the flames right away, but sometimes we don't notice the smoke until it's almost too late.
Basically, these verses are saying that Scripture is God's penmanship, and that it's pretty important, so we should listen up. I don't know about all you out there, but I want to be thoroughly equipped to do God's work and be complete for when He returns.
