Ephesians 4:7 - But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

In Ephesians Chapter 4, the imprisoned Apostle Paul is extorting his fellow believers to walk worthy of the calling they have in Christ Jesus. In the first few verses we see a context for that calling given in the unity of Spirit required to walk worthy of the calling of Christ, and a inkling of the splendor and majesty of the God to whom we are called. In verse 7 the Apostle Paul brings his message to a more personal level.

But unto every one of us
The power of God for us is something that is a very personal thing. It is not something that you read about, hear about, or see... it is meant to be something experienced by you personally.

is given grace
Grace is what God gives us that we don't deserve. Mercy is what God doesn't give us, that we DO deserve. This word Grace is "charis" in the original Greek. It is the word that we get charismatic, and charisma from. It means joy, heavenly gifts, pleasure, delight, favor of God, benefit and gratitude. Wow, what a gift that we as believers in the Lord Jesus have been personally given.

according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
We weren't given just a little grace, we were given an unlimited portion of Grace! As we will see in the following verses, Christ went all they way to conquer hell and take his place at the right hand of God and all that he got, he gave to us! We are entitled as followers of Christ to all of the joy, bounty, delight, favor, gratitude and benefits of God almighty. Now, we as believers need to appropriate what has been given to us into our lives. That is the real message of Ephesians 4, that we need to walk in the calling of Christ Jesus.... in the full measure of his will for us, with the full power of him in our lives, and towards the purposes he has planned for us.
