I. We should teach others the cost of following Jesus (26).
II. Believers should understand God requires our total surrender and loyalty, above our parents (26),
A. Our loyalty to Jesus should be above our spouse and children (26),
B. Our loyalty to Jesus should be above our siblings (26), and
C. Our loyalty to Jesus should be above our own lives and desires (26).
III. We must be willing to give up every aspect of our lives for obedience to God (27).
A. If we count the cost and follow Him, we can finish the race strong in our walk with Christ (29, 30).
B. If we count the cost and follow Him, we can live victoriously in our walk with Christ (31-33).
C. If we count the cost and follow Him, we will be effective and useful for God in our walk with Christ.
The Central Idea
To become a true disciple of Jesus Christ, you must be willing to surrender everything and everyone to Him and for Him.
