2 Chronicles 1:1

Solomon enjoyed greater blessing than any other king before or after him. What was the secret of his success? It was the same as that of Sampson's. His great strength lye in his consecration to God. As long as he was true to his consecration God's Blessings flowed into his life. Though Solomon's early days are a great success you'll discover that the later days of his life turned disastrous. His heart was led astray by false gods brought in by the multitude of wives he married. The Kingdom crumbled and divided because his consecration was compromised. If he had held to David's perspective "all the days of my life..." (psalms 27:4) his success could have been enduring. This is the principle we must digest from the life of Solomon: "It's not he who starts well but he who finishes well that wins the prize." Like the Apostle Paul who said, "I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of life." (2 Tim. 4:7-8 KJV).
