Light is more powerful than darkness. When we feed our spirit on light, darkness can not overpower it. This is a good analogy. Many people approach their struggle like a person getting a bucket in a dark room and opens the window and starts "pouring" the darkness out of the window. Another guy comes along and says, "What are you doing?" and the first replies, "I'm trying to get rid of the darkness! I can't see anything!" The second guy turns the light switch on and instantly the darkness is driven out. We need to put the energy on getting the Light to enter more than getting rid of the darkness. Why? Because when light shines it is far more powerful than darkness. What is the light? Of course, it is that vibrant relationship with the Lord, cultivated through an inward gaze toward Him and daily eating of the Word of God. We need to put more energy in that than trying to get rid of the darkness through meaningless attempts.
