Truth
"Buy truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding." (Proverbs 23:23)
I am concerned about modern society. To be honest, I am concerned about modern Christianity. We don't seem to have a clue as to what truth is. Matter of fact, we are buying modern societies lie that there is no absolute truth. And as we buy the lie we are losing wisdom, discipline and understanding. It should be now surprise that we are doing exactly the opposite of what Scripture recommends and are getting a society that lacks wisdom, discipline and understanding.
Solomon says that we should buy it and not sell it. Truth is something that we are supposed to hold in the highest regard, protect and cherish. It is time for us Christians to rise up in defense of the truth. Sadly, before we can defend it we need to believe it. It is time for us to buy the truth and not sell it. We need to build doctrinal beliefs and stances on the truths we have purchased. And look at what Solomon says will be given to all who hold to the truth; wisdom, discipline and understanding. It is time that we represent Christianity as the source of truth, wisdom, discipline and understanding. There is a world out their hungering for what real truth offers.
My final thought: We have to be defenders of truth if we are going to be defenders of Jesus. He Himself says that He is "the Way, and the TRUTH, and the Life." If Jesus is the TRUTH than we should buy (receive) Him and not sell Him. Brothers and Sisters in Christ, don't let modern philosophy fool you! Truth begins with God and His Word (Jesus). The closer we draw toward Jesus the more enlightened we become in wisdom, discipline and understanding.
Peace!
Tom
