John the Baptist was said to be the last of the old tesiment prohets. The one who was to come and pave the way, with his teaching, for the comming messiah. Maybe God did this for a reason, to show people that the time was near for His son to come and let them know what they were going to be taught. In hopes that the teachings from Jesus would be easily accepted, I wonder why not? During the whole baptism, maybe that was supposed to symbolic and representative to the people showing that God will bless and keep you has He has with Jesus. Throughout this chapter it seems to me that Mark reflects on the devine side of Jesus more. Showing that he heals, forgives, and that even the deamons know who he is; calling him the "Son of the most High God". How great is it to have Jesus on our side, even the lowest of demons fear Him and Satan could not tempt Him!
