Past Tense
As you read these next several verses, pay close attention to the tense of the verbs used by Paul. Much of the actions he describes have already happened. Some is happening right now and some will happen in the future. Make a list of what has already happened, what is happening and what will happen. Unless you know what has already happened to you and for you, you’ll keep living like you lived instead of living up to your potential. If you thought you were penniless, you would live like you were. If you knew you had millions in your bank account, you would live like it. The same is true spiritually. If you think all the things Paul describes here are future, you’ll live like there aren’t yours yet. If you know they are already yours, you’ll live like they are true.
