The Lutheran Study Bible says, "Those who declare themselves independent of community restraints, particularly from the congregation of the Lord, will give free rein to selfish drives and, as a result, make peaceful relations with other difficult or impossible. God's Word teaches us to avoid leaning on our own high opinion of ourselves and our wisdom. Not only is is selfish to remove ourselves from the fellowship of God's people, but it is also inconsistent with true faith and love. ( Acts 2:42-47) See Hebrews 10:25-26 I think this is a challenge for many independent thinking "open minded" people today. Is this one reason worship attendance suffers, because we think we can go it alone?
