Good Things!
This is one of my favorite Psalms. The Psalmist praises God for all He does and then writes a list of all the 'good things' God does. Today I reflect and praise God for all the many 'good things' He does for me. It is fascinating to me that the Psalmist lists those 'good things' as: 1) God forgives all my sins; 2) God heals all my diseases; 3) God redeems me from death; 4)God crowns me with love and tender mercies and concluding with
5) God fills my life with good things. And the result is: God's good things fill me so "My youth is renewed like the eagle's!".
I tend to think of 'good things' as material matters: Family, friends, a job, a home, material wealth. But the Psalmist sees that all the really good things are spiritual: Forgiveness, Healing both physical and spiritual from sin, Salvation, Love and Mercy - these are the 'God things' - His good in my life. And when I focus on praising Him for what I cannot necessarily see or touch but know deeply inside of me, I am renewed time and again and soar like the eagles.
Thank you dear Lord God, for showing me Truth - forgiving and saving me from sin and death and crowning me with Your love and mercy this day. May I ever remember Your faithfulness, love and mercy. Amen
