Commit is one of those buzz words associated with long-term and forever, much like a vow. I realized reading Psalm 37 again tonight — that I commit to one thing or another without thinking that I am just doing that — committing is what I choose to do. Many times my committing is reaction instead of proaction. I allow my human selfishness to rule and squeeze out the Holy Spirit in reigning in me, through me.

Psalm 37 says: "Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun." I see this is conscientiously done with heart and mind.

God provides the how to commit in these verses: "Be still in the presence of the Lord and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes".

So I must quiet myself in God's Word, in His presence, committing to Him my direction every day, every hour, every breath I take. O Lord, may my committing to You become as breathing.
