Prayerful Mission
Our mission is clear, but very hard to conceptualize. From before the time when science can lay a claim to understanding there was God, floating over the void. Better yet, the Holy Spirit was floating over the void as God was beyond the realm of our possible understanding filled with the thought of Jesus. From this God created life, he created life for the purpose of personal love. Then God creates each of us and he places in us a drive to seek out that original all consuming love. Some of us have taken that drive and wasted it on unfulfilling things, but as a response to our short-comings God offered us redemption. Enter Jesus; he fulfilled the drive for true love by living blameless and true. Here with his best friends at the end of his life he shares a great prayer of what our mission is for the future and how that ties back to the original intent of creation. That mission is to be one heart and soul seeking his will to share that all consuming love with our fellow children of God.
My pastor said this and it’s very fitting, “God help us to love ourselves so that we can accept your love and share it with the people that we meet.” We have to first love ourselves enough to accept that God graciously loves us despite all of our faults. Then, once we have accepted that grace, we love those that are closest to us and share the daily work of seeking out God’s will. Once we are seeking God’s will as the Body of Christ we make that final leap and love those that will come after us and only hear of God’s love thru the grace that we exhibit.
