God loves to play in the dirt in the chaos of our world. 'Formless and empty' in Hebrew is Tohu Va-vohu. It can also be translated 'wild and waste' or 'chaos'. God is someone who brings order from chaos, flourishing from waste, light from darkness. This idea of the world put to rights is called Tikkun Olam.

I have two observations in this...
1) God is an active God with dirt under his fingernails.
2) God isn't a sterilize God who defaults to 'controlling his creation', but shapes, re-shapes and re-orders it for flourishing.

To often our default mode is control. Sometimes you need to let the spirit play in the dirt and make something beautiful
