Mark 2:15-17 NLT

Jesus was known for eating, and sharing his life, with "sinners." Look at the list of the 12 apostles and you will see people from all walks of life who would have had a very hard time having even a polite conversation with each other around a table. They would have disagreed on most of the important issues of the day and yet Jesus brought them all together and taught them to live their lives following him. That drew them together.

He didn't just limit his time to these 12 either. He spent time with other "disreputable sinners." I have to wonder why the church doesn't reflect this aspect of Jesus more. When was the last time you intentionally, ate dinner with a sinner? I know some people will say we're all sinners so every meal I eat is one with a sinner...don't take a shortcut. When was the last time you ate dinner with an unrepentant, disagreeable, hurting, sinner? When was the last time you took time to get to know somebody outside of your circle of friends who doesn't fit your lifestyle?

It seems to me that Jesus did that a lot. Maybe we should too.
