Today these verses of living water were much needed. Yesterday, I suffered heartache from the unintentional words of a friend. This friend had received postcards from my daughter who have not heard from in months. She had no idea had hard it was for me to hear her words.
My daughter and two sons lost their dad to cancer this past April. We had been divorced for over 16 yeas. Neither of us had remarried. There was a huge mistakes and sin on my part.
Bitterness set in quickly into our sons who were older, but our youngest, and our only daughter, was just two. She grew up between our homes. I always had a close relationship and wonderful with her.
When her dad died, she was very sad and sought counseling which helped.
Then this summer, my sons imparted their bitterness about me to her. She separated herself from me without words when she moved 3,000 miles away for college. I have asked forgiveness from my sons and my daughter hundreds of times in the past sixteen years. My daughter willing accepted but now she holds me in contempt along with my sons who speak to me only now and then.
God reminds me today, my pain and loss is His. He has forgiven me. And that I am given the Holy Spirit to be renewed and refreshed today. Though circumstance may be difficult, I come to Him and press on because I believe Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord.
Dear Friend, may you be refreshed in your sorrow and pain today. Know this refreshment and life-giving water of power of the Holy Spirit is yours today as you come to God ready to be filled. Amen
