Examples
After listening to the sermon this weekend on Intentional Faith Development and the celebration of All Saints Sunday I was filled with thoughts of my spiritual role models. I remembered the story of my Abuelo going to churh to sing in the choir hours after being in a car crash. I remembered as a boy going with my Dad to work on the church roof and eating crispy bacon at Methodist Men's breakfasts. I remembered my Mom helping with the childrens choir as we sang songs for the congregation. I remember the passion with which my friends in Mexico would race to be the first to read Bible verses. I remember my pastor in college challenging me to read more and to become a better teacher.
I remember all these things as I sit with my son and tell him bible stories and tell him that I love him everytime he looks up at me.
Since we have been given such great examples and stories to tell from the Bible and our own lives we should follow those examples and learn from them so that we can pass along another story. We can learn from the successes and failures of our Parents and the Saints from the Bible. We can formulate our own paths to best achieve the goals of spreading Christs love. Thru all of these stories and memories we should always look to the example of Jesus, the son of the heavenly father, who flawlessly fullfilled his God given mission.
