I agree, so does the Bible - let everything, every docrine, be supported only by pure Scripture, and then "2 or 3 witnesses" (Matt 18:16)...only then make a doctrine. So, boomersooner is right in engaging ALL the Bible in ALL matters. THEN double check your churche's doctrine.
