Christ raised from Death for victory over sin
17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. (NIV)
For me this verse breathes something fresh in my spiritual life. I must confess that many times in my gospel presentation I end with the words that "Jesus died for you." But this is only half the story. Yes, Jesus died but as long as he was in the grave , Death still had power over Him. The victory came when he was raised form death. When he was raised, he defeated death and the powers of darkness.
In my spiritual life I tend to focus too much on the death of Jesus and not the fact that he was raised from death. If he was not raised, then I would not have any spiritual life.
Being victorious in the christian life means living in the shadow of the risen Christ. There is the power we seek, especially the power to overcome sin in our lifes.
let us think constantly of this fact "Christ has risen" and what it means for us now.
