Romans 12:9-21 NLT

Many times I have asked God - how can I serve You? My answer is clearly given in Romans 12:9-21. God has given each of us gifts to serve and love others in Him.

My problem comes when my gifts are for my own selfish vanity, not for God. The difference is my heart intent — do I use my gift to bring attention and praise from others to benefit my inflated ego of how truly wonderful I am? Or is God, who has given me every good gift, the focal point of my heart and His kingdom?
Daily I must do a heart check. Examine myself, asking God to find and reveal my selfish motives in me-
"For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts." 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Then I confess and pray to my heavenly Father all my selfishness and ask that I die to my selfishness and trust my Lord Jesus Christ for everything. 'My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20
It is not easy most days. My need for glory and human recognition is strong and yet it never brings real love or joyous peace — it only wants to be fed more.
The times that Jesus Christ does reign in me, are great times. I know love unconditionally and serving others is truly joyous without earthly boundaries.
Dear Friend, I pray today our hearts are joined perfectly to Jesus Christ, that our service to others has only one intent - to glorify God.
