John 17:21-23 NKJV

They say that if you really want to know what was important to someone to look back at their last words. John’s Gospel records the last prayer of Jesus before the crucifixion and Jesus is praying that we would be one as Him and the Father are one. Why is this so important? Jesus said, “That they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Our oneness with the Father and each other is a witness to the lost. The psalmist wrote, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” What must it look like for the world when oneness or unity is not found in the brethren? Lord please help me to live out Paul's prayer so that the world and others will know that You are the Christ. “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
