Joseph's heart yearned for his brother. I believe it was always Joseph's intention to get his brother back. He was concerned for his father, but really cared very little for the brothers who betrayed him. If they went back home and never knew the truth it would be fine with him, as long as he had his brother with him. The extra food on Benjamin's plate also demonstrates these feelings.

That is why later on Joseph puts the stolen item in Benjamin's sack. It would be the way he could justify bringing him back. But Joseph wasn't prepared for their reaction, especially Judah. We'll get into that in the next chapter.
