Jesus directed the disciples to cross over the lake, while he dismissed the crowd. After retreating to a secluded place for prayer, Jesus walked on the water to where the disciples were rowing. A sudden storm hampered their progress. After hearing the reassuring voice of Jesus to not be afraid, Peter asked if he could join him on the water walk. Jesus said, "Come."

When you get tired enough to leave the sanctity of your struggle you can walk on the substance of things hoped for.

Rules for Walking on Water:

1. Make certain that it is Jesus bidding you to come. Peter asked, "Lord, if it is you, ask me to come." The Voice of God is distinctive, clear, and concise. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice and the voice of a stranger they will not follow." The Voice of God is never strange nor confusing.

2. Take a step out of the boat. Do not take a leap of faith. The only one to ever suggest to take a leap is Satan who tempted Jesus saying, "If you are the Son of God, jump off this pinnacle." Don't presume faith. Even David when preparing to fight the giant warrior Goliath did not presume the armor of the King. He used what he had proven. You cannot leap into great faith, you must step into faith. The steps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord.

3. Keep your eyes fixed and focused on Jesus. Don't allow the peripheral distractions to catch your eyes. Stay focused on His Word.

4. Don't listen to those who stay in the boat. When you are in a struggle there are people who are glad that you're with them. They may not like the fact that you left the boat of bondage. They can't give you advice for walking on water while they remain in the boat. They can't guide your steps.

5. Don't doubt. Doubt is a perverted thought. It is questioning the character of God. Circumstances will never align with your walk in faith. During this economic downturn, don't listen to the nay sayers for encouragement. Don't listen to the doom-sayers for a pick up talk. Remember the Word of God calling you out of the status quo.

6. When in trouble, call for help. The mercy of Jesus is that he snatches us up when we are weak. Read Jude 22. He tells you how he feels concerning those who doubt.
