Romans 8:1-11 NKJV, 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV and Colossians 3:8 NKJV

Are you walking in the flesh, or the Spirit? When we become a Christian, our past lives of living in the flesh should dissipate. Things such as hate, lust, malice, greed, and filthy language should not be a part of the way we are. For in Colossians 3:8 it says “But now you yourselves are to put all these aside: anger, wrath, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth”. These are some of the things that we can do without, in our Christian lives. We do so because it pleases God and glorifies Him. Do no continue to the things that only will glorify you.
In 1 Corinthians 6:19 it says “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” Filling yourself with those things that the flesh so greatly wants you to do, only defames the temple. Your heart needs to be in the right place and be of the Spirit, not of the flesh. If you continue to do the opposite of these things and walk in the flesh, you cannot please God.
The power of Jesus is always there when you need Him, or are being tempted by those things that the flesh so greatly wants you to do. There is the saying, “The mind is willing but the flesh is weak”. Can’t we also see it as saying, “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”? As you read, the flesh is weak through sin. Sin has controlled our lives since before we gave our lives to Him. We were covered and bathed in those sins of the flesh. Thinking that was the only thing that was out there for us to live by. So then when we fully give our lives to Him, our body still wants to do the things that the flesh wanted to do. But having Christ in our heart, sin is condemned in the flesh. It was because God sent His own Son do die on account of this sin. So having Christ in your heart, and His Spirit dwells in you, you our His. And isn’t that a glorious thing to know.
So now where is your mind set on? Things that you wanted to do before you were a Christian, and the things of the flesh or is it set on things of the Spirit? Live your life accordingly to what the Scriptures say. For God gave them to us through His prophets and apostles to help guide us so that we may draw closer to Him.
