a lonely place to be
It’s interesting the way Luke describes the places Jesus withdrew to pray where lonely. We all know it’s important to get away and pray but do we ever stop to realize that maybe the times we don’t ‘get away’ is because of the fact that we are alone physically? Don’t get me wrong God is there but it feels like it is just us and depending on what we have been through in life alone can be scary for some. But I think that’s what God wants, not for us to be afraid but to realize that He can be trusted and depended on. One definition for lonely is, “remote from places of human habitation” Just as Jesus did, God wants us to remove ourselves from other people and spend time with Him.
What a great picture of an amazing relationship Jesus had with the Father. And it is true that we will spend time with those who we are in a relationship with people that we are in a relationship with.
One of the best times of the day is the early morning when everything is quiet and peaceful and I get to just crack open my bible (or iPod touch) and read my daily devotions and pray. I love to get alone with God and hear his voice that always gives me direction for my day.
