Luke 17:5-6 NLT

I am really perplexed by this statement, this seems like a very important issue to most Christians today, that is, the desire for one's faith to increase. When the disciples asked Christ, "Show us how to increase our faith." How does Jesus respond. Not in a way that is really helpful, all He says is, "If you had faith like a mustard seed, you can tell this mulberry tree to be uprooted and throw itself into the sea, and it would obey you!"

"Now that's great Jesus but how exactly do I get the faith of a mustard seed?" This really must not seem like an important issue to God at all. Perplexing! Why??? My guess would be because Jesus is with them, and the disciples witnessed and watched all the amazing things that Christ has done or is about to do, and if they did not already believe, then they are probably a lost cause. Sometimes we just need to believe with what little or great evidence (in the disciples case great!) that God has revealed to us in our lives. He just asks us to believe! This is probably the first step in believing and holding onto this step will increase our faith. Just believe!

"I'd rather believe in Christ Jesus and find out that i am wrong then to not believe in Christ Jesus and find out that I am wrong!" (Pascals Wager, my paraphrase)
