Did God cause the destruction of Haiti?
Jesus tells us in these passages that there will be earthquakes in various places, famines, and people claiming to be the Messiah during the last days. People who are followers of God will be persecuted by their own families and governments. But Jesus said that He will give us the words to use so that we can refute them and they will not even be able to give a retort. With our witness we will be able to win souls over to God.
Right now there is a lot of persecution going on, people are saying, "how can a loving God do this?" Truth be known, we brought this upon our selves when Adam and Eve brought sin into the world. Not only did it corrupt them, but as a result of sin, sin also corrupted the earth. Jesus said that the earth groans for the coming of the Lord.
Jesus would be the first person to Haiti to try and help and ease their suffering, that is why I admonish the actions of Christians across the whole world who are trying to pour into Haiti to help. When people are stricken down we are to be there to listen and love, and if need be, act! Christians are the worse people when it comes to understanding pain, suffering, and those who go through it. Christians who do not know any better will say, "What sin did you do, to bring this suffering? Repent and turn from your sins!" Remember Job, he was righteous and blameless before the Lord yet he lost everything including his family and his stupid friends where trying to accuse him of sin in his life. Within their reasoning, why else would God allow this kind of suffering? See Job.
God right now is holding back judgment against the world, He is not causing earthquakes to happen, famines, and tsunamis. Though God permits this evil, He can always turn it into something good. But the day is coming when Christ will judge the world, and that is the day I would fear if I was not save by the grace of Christ Jesus!
