Exodus 14:12 ASV

12 Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!"

This event in history is a picture of God saving us from the slavery (Egypt) that sin had on us to the salvation He (through Jesus) can give us. It shows us how our spiritual enemy Satan works and how God redeems us. God choose Israel as His people yet Satan (Pharaoh) had them not only as slaves but working for Him. Once God saved the Israelites from slavery it’s interesting that they would have preferred to die slaves rather than to die living free.

I am reminded today that as I serve God I have an enemy that would make me believe it’s easier to stop serving God and just live and do as this world does. I am also reminded that I not only have I been saved from the slavery of din through the blood of Jesus but I have the honor and privilege of serving the creator the universe. It will not always be easy but I know how the story ends and where I will live after this life. So to me it’s worth dying one day having served God to the best of my ability.

Thank you Lord for this amazing reminder of your plan for me today!
