A call to action - A time for change
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
and that the time of the LORD's favor has come."
He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. "The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!"
I love reading Luke. And Issiah for that matter too. Just so many outstanding passages.
Jesus just lays out his purpose and call right on the line at the synagogue. He knows... what to say. He is convicted. First things first, he is one with God. He's strong in the spirit. He's spent alot of time with God in the wilderness, just growing and refreshing his relationship.
Strength comes from time spent with God. It's so true. But somehow, we still struggle to do it!
Jesus lets all the people know, the the spirit is with him, and things are going to change. He's not going to be sitting still, studying himself, in some once a week, holier then thou kind of way. Rather, he's going to do what he was ment to do. Minister good news to the pour, hurt, lost, lonely. God's favor is on it's way.
Good things are coming! Let's get ready for some change!
