Psalm 19:7-14 NLT, Acts 17:17 NLT and Acts 18:28 NLT

The psalmist said, "How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?
Cleanse me from these hidden faults."

We are all born into sin which comes from the corrupt nature of our flesh. We can never be so holy that we are beyond the flesh, for pride is also an evil hiding in our hearts that would make us feel and think that we are better people than others, or better Christians than others, more holier than others. Our ministry can be comprised by this evil and we must be watchmen. Not only watching and being prepared for the attacks that would come from satan and his minions, but also being a watchmen of our flesh!

Not only are we at war with satan, but we are also at war with our flesh. It is a military blunder to have a war on different fronts like the Nazis fighting the Russians on the East and the Allies on the West. We are likewise fighting satan on the East and our flesh on the West. We are sandwiched in by too powerful evils. Our only hope is dying daily to our flesh and being cleansed by Christ Jesus. We must win on one front before we battle on another.

This is why so many prominate Christians have failed, they are so focused on the spiritual that they forget the practical. They forget that we are still battling the flesh daily. How about a picture to demonstrate this. Imagine a little warrior who is caught in sinking sand and there is a roaring lion waiting to devour him. The little warriour gets so focused on the lion that he forgets that he is still standing on sinking sand!

I am convinced that this too is a strategy of the devil, he tries to get us so foccused on him so that we forget that we are still in the flesh. We must die to our flesh daily so that we can battle the enemy. We cannot fight on two fronts. We need to die to our flesh daily and to take up the cross of Jesus Christ so that we can better fight the enemy. We must be careful for we are sometimes are our own worst enemies.
