2 Timothy 1
1 PAUL, AN apostle (special messenger) of Christ Jesus by the will of God, according to the promise of life that is in Christ Jesus,2 To Timothy, [my] beloved child: Grace (favor and spiritual blessing), mercy, and [heart] peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!3 I thank God Whom I worship with a pure conscience, in the spirit of my fathers, when without ceasing I remember you night and day in my prayers,4 And when, as I recall your tears, I yearn to see you so that I may be filled with joy.5 I am calling up memories of your sincere and unqualified faith (the leaning of your entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), [a faith] that first lived permanently in [the heart of] your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am [fully] persuaded, [dwells] in you also.6 That is why I would remind you to stir up (rekindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination].7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.8 Do not blush or be ashamed then, to testify to and for our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for His sake, but [with me] take your share of the suffering [to which the preaching] of the Gospel [may expose you, and do it] in the power of God.9 [For it is He] Who delivered and saved us and called us with a calling in itself holy and leading to holiness [to a life of consecration, a vocation of holiness]; [He did it] not because of anything of merit that we have done, but because of and to further His own purpose and grace (unmerited favor) which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago].10 [It is that purpose and grace] which He now has made known and has fully disclosed and made real [to us] through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, Who annulled death and made it of no effect and brought life and immortality (immunity from eternal death) to light through the Gospel.11 For [the proclaiming of] this [Gospel] I was appointed a herald (preacher) and an apostle (special messenger) and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 And this is why I am suffering as I do. Still I am not ashamed, for I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day.13 Hold fast and follow the pattern of wholesome and sound teaching which you have heard from me, in [all] the faith and love which are [for us] in Christ Jesus.14 Guard and keep [with the greatest care] the precious and excellently adapted [Truth] which has been entrusted [to you], by the [help of the] Holy Spirit Who makes His home in us.15 You already know that all who are in Asia turned away and forsook me, Phygelus and Hermogenes among them.16 May the Lord grant [His] mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, for he often showed me kindness and ministered to my needs [comforting and reviving and bracing me like fresh air]! He was not ashamed of my chains and imprisonment [for Christ’s sake].17 No, rather when he reached Rome, he searched diligently and eagerly for me and found me.18 May the Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord on that [great] day! And you know how many things he did for me and what a help he was at Ephesus [you know better than I can tell you].
디모데후서 1
1 하나님의 뜻에 따라 그리스도 예수님 안에 있는 생명의 약속대로 그리스도 예수님의 사도가 된 나 바울은
2 나의 사랑하는 아들 디모데에게 하나님 아버지와 우리 주 그리스도 예수님의 은혜와 자비와 평안이 함께하기를 기도합니다.

3 나는 밤낮 기도할 때마다 그대를 기억하면서 조상 때부터 깨끗한 양심으로 섬겨 온 하나님께 감사하고 있습니다.
4 나는 그대가 헤어질 때 흘리던 눈물을 기억하며 다시 만나기를 간절히 바라고 있습니다. 그대를 만나게 되면 내 기쁨이 넘치게 될 것입니다.
5 나는 그대의 진실한 믿음을 기억하고 있습니다. 그 믿음은 먼저 그대의 할머니 로이스와 그대의 어머니 유니게에게 있더니 그대에게도 이 믿음이 있는 것을 나는 확신합니다.
6 그러므로 내가 그대에게 말합니다. 내가 그대에게 안수할 때 하나님이 그대에게 주신 은혜의 선물을 불일듯 되살아나게 하시오.
7 하나님은 우리에게 두려워하는 마음을 주신 것이 아니라 능력과 사랑과 절제하는 마음을 주셨습니다.
8 그러므로 그대는 우리 주님을 증거하는 일과 내가 주님을 위해 갇힌 것을 부끄러워하지 말고 오히려 하나님의 능력으로 나처럼 기쁜 소식을 위해 고난을 받으시오.
9 하나님께서는 우리를 구원해 주시고 또 그분의 거룩한 일을 위해 우리를 부르셨습니다. 그것은 우리의 선행으로 된 것이 아니라 하나님의 목적과 은혜로 된 것입니다. 그 은혜는 영원 전에 그리스도 예수님 안에서 우리에게 주신 것인데
10 우리 구주 그리스도 예수님이 오심으로 이제 드러나게 된 것입니다. 그분은 죽음을 없애 버리시고 기쁜 소식으로써 죽지 않고 영원히 사는 길을 보여 주셨습니다.
11 나는 이 기쁜 소식을 위해 전도자와 사도와 교사의 직분을 맡았습니다.
12 그래서 내가 이런 고난을 당하고 있으나 조금도 부끄러워하지 않는 것은 내가 믿는 분을 내가 잘 알고 내가 그분에게 맡긴 것을 주님이 다시 오시는 날까지 지켜 주실 것을 확신하기 때문입니다.
13 그리스도 예수님 안에 있는 믿음과 사랑으로 나에게 들은 진리의 말씀을 실천하고
14 또 우리 안에 계시는 성령님의 도움으로 그대가 맡은 선한 일을 잘 지키시오.
15 그대도 알고 있겠지만 아시아에 있는 사람들이 다 나를 버렸으며 그들 가운데는 부겔로와 허모게네가 있습니다.
16 주님께서 오네시보로의 가정을 불쌍히 여겨 주시기를 기도합니다. 그는 여러 번 나에게 용기를 북돋아 주었으며 내가 갇혀 있는 것을 조금도 부끄러워하지 않고
17 로마에 있을 때에 열심히 나를 찾아 만났습니다.
18 주님께서 다시 오실 때 그에게 자비를 베풀어 주시기를 기도합니다. 그가 에베소에서 얼마나 많이 나를 도왔는지 그대도 잘 알고 있습니다.
