John 21

1 After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and he manifested himself on this wise.2 There was together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and entered into the boat; and that night they took nothing.4 But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.5 Jesus therefore saith unto them, Children, have ye aught to eat? They answered him, No.6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.7 That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his coat about him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off), dragging the net full of fishes.9 So when they got out upon the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now taken.11 Simon Peter therefore went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, the net was not rent.12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and break your fast. And none of the disciples durst inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.13 Jesus cometh, and taketh the bread, and giveth them, and the fish likewise.14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.15 So when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.16 He saith to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Tend my sheep.17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.19 Now this he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.20 Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also leaned back on his breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee?21 Peter therefore seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.23 This saying therefore went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, that he should not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?24 This is the disciple that beareth witness of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his witness is true.25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that should be written.

Der Auferstandene erscheint seinen Jüngern am See von Tiberias

1 Jesus zeigte sich seinen Jüngern später noch ein weiteres Mal. Er erschien ihnen am See von Tiberias,2 wo Simon Petrus, Thomas - auch Didymus genannt t-, Natanaël aus Kana in Galiläa, die Söhne des Zebedäus und noch zwei andere Jünger zusammen waren.3 Simon Petrus sagte: »Ich gehe fischen.« -»Wir auch«, sagten die anderen, »wir kommen mit.« Sie gingen zum Boot hinaus und legten ab, aber in jener Nacht fingen sie nichts.
4 Als es dann Tag wurde, stand Jesus am Ufer, doch die Jünger erkannten ihn nicht.5 »Kinder«, rief er ihnen zu, »habt ihr nicht ein paar Fische für das Frühstück t?« - »Nein«, riefen sie zurück, »nicht einen einzigen!« -6 »Werft das Netz auf der rechten Seite des Bootes aus!«, forderte er sie auf. »Ihr werdet sehen, dass ihr etwas fangt.« Sie warfen das Netz aus, aber dann konnten sie es nicht mehr einholen, solch eine Menge Fische hatten sie gefangen.
7 Da sagte jener Jünger, den Jesus besonders liebte, zu Petrus: »Es ist der Herr!« Als Simon Petrus ihn sagen hörte: »Es ist der Herr«, warf er sich das Obergewand über, das er bei der Arbeit abgelegt hatte t, band es fest und sprang ins Wasser, ´um schneller am Ufer zu sein`.8 Die anderen Jünger kamen mit dem Boot nach, das Netz mit den Fischen im Schlepptau. Sie hatten es nicht weit bis zum Ufer - nur etwa hundert Meter t.9 Als sie aus dem Boot stiegen und an Land gingen, sahen sie ein Kohlenfeuer, auf dem Fische tbrieten; auch Brot lag dabei.10 »Bringt ein paar von den Fischen, die ihr eben gefangen habt!«, forderte Jesus sie auf.11 Da stieg Simon Petrus ins Boot tund zog das Netz an Land. Es war voll von großen Fischen, im Ganzen hundertdreiundfünfzig. Und trotz dieser Menge riss das Netz nicht.12 »Kommt her und esst! t«, sagte Jesus. Die Jünger hätten ihn am liebsten gefragt: »Wer bist du?« Aber keiner von ihnen wagte es t; sie wussten, dass es der Herr war.13 Jesus trat ´ans Feuer` t, nahm das Brot und gab es ihnen, und ebenso den Fisch.
14 Das war nun schon das dritte Mal t, dass Jesus seinen Jüngern erschien, nachdem er von den Toten auferstanden war.

Jesus und Petrus: Erneuertes Vertrauen

15 Als sie gegessen hatten, sagte Jesus zu Simon Petrus: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes t, liebst du mich mehr als irgendein anderer hier?« Petrus gab ihm zur Antwort: »Ja, Herr, du weißt, dass ich dich lieb habe.« Darauf sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Sorge für meine Lämmer!«16 Jesus fragte ihn ein zweites Mal: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich?« Petrus antwortete: »Ja, Herr, du weißt, dass ich dich lieb habe.« Da sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Hüte meine Schafe!«17 Jesus fragte ihn ein drittes Mal: »Simon, Sohn des Johannes, hast du mich lieb?« Petrus wurde traurig, weil Jesus ihn nun schon zum dritten Mal fragte: »Hast du mich lieb?« - »Herr, du weißt alles«, erwiderte er. »Du weißt, dass ich dich lieb habe.«Darauf sagte Jesus zu ihm: »Sorge für meine Schafe!
18 Ich möchte dir etwas sagen: Als du noch jung twarst, hast du dir den Gürtel selbst umgebunden und bist gegangen, wohin du wolltest. Doch wenn du einmal alt bist, wirst du deine Hände ausstrecken, und ein anderer wird dir den Gürtel umbinden tund dich dahin führen, wo du nicht hingehen willst.«19 Jesus deutete damit an, auf welche Weise Petrus sterben würde und dass durch seinen Tod die Herrlichkeit Gottes offenbart würde. Er schloss, indem er sagte: »Folge mir nach! t«

Petrus und der Jünger, den Jesus besonders liebte: Unterschiedliche Wege in der Nachfolge

20 Petrus wandte sich um und sah, dass der Jünger, den Jesus besonders liebte, ihnen folgte - jener Jünger, der sich damals beim Abendessen zu Jesus hinübergelehnt und ihn gefragt hatte: »Herr, wer wird dich verraten?«21 Als Petrus ihn sah, fragte er Jesus: »Herr, und was wird aus diesem hier?«22 Jesus erwiderte: »Wenn ich will, dass er am Leben bleibt, bis ich wiederkomme, was geht dich das an? Folge du mir nach!«
23 Unter den Gläubigen tverbreitete sich daraufhin das Gerücht, jener Jünger werde nicht sterben. Dabei hatte Jesus zu Petrus gar nicht gesagt, der Jünger werde nicht sterben; er hatte nur gesagt: »Wenn ich will, dass er am Leben bleibt, bis ich wiederkomme, was geht dich das an?«

Schlusswort

24 Der Jünger, ´von dem Jesus das sagte,` ist auch der, der ´alle` diese Dinge bezeugt. Er hat sie niedergeschrieben, und wir wissen, dass sein Bericht wahr ist.25 Es gäbe noch vieles andere zu berichten t, was Jesus getan hat. Wenn alles einzeln aufgeschrieben würde - ich glaube, die Welt wäre zu klein, um all die Bücher zu fassen, die man dann schreiben müsste.
