John 6

1 After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.2 And a great multitude followed him, because they beheld the signs which he did on them that were sick.3 And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.4 Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.5 Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.7 Philip answered him, Two hundred shillings’ worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,9 There is a lad here, who hath five barley loaves, and two fishes: but what are these among so many?10 Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.11 Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to them that were set down; likewise also of the fishes as much as they would.12 And when they were filled, he saith unto his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces which remain over, that nothing be lost.13 So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which remained over unto them that had eaten.14 When therefore the people saw the sign which he did, they said, This is of a truth the prophet that cometh into the world.15 Jesus therefore perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force, to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain himself alone.16 And when evening came, his disciples went down unto the sea;17 and they entered into a boat, and were going over the sea unto Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.18 And the sea was rising by reason of a great wind that blew.19 When therefore they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they behold Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the boat: and they were afraid.20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.21 They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat: and straightway the boat was at the land whither they were going.22 On the morrow the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, save one, and that Jesus entered not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples went away alone23 (howbeit there came boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks):24 when the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.25 And when they found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw signs, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were filled.27 Work not for the food which perisheth, but for the food which abideth unto eternal life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him the Father, even God, hath sealed.28 They said therefore unto him, What must we do, that we may work the works of God?29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.30 They said therefore unto him, What then doest thou for a sign, that we may see, and believe thee? what workest thou?31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.32 Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, It was not Moses that gave you the bread out of heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread out of heaven.33 For the bread of God is that which cometh down out of heaven, and giveth life unto the world.34 They said therefore unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.35 Jesus said unto them. I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall not hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.36 But I said unto you, that ye have seen me, and yet believe not.37 All that which the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.38 For I am come down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.39 And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all that which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.40 For this is the will of my Father, that every one that beholdeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.41 The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said, I am the bread which came down out of heaven.42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how doth he now say, I am come down out of heaven?43 Jesus answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.44 No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard from the Father, and hath learned, cometh unto me.46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he that is from God, he hath seen the Father.47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth hath eternal life.48 I am the bread of life.49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.50 This is the bread which cometh down out of heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: yea and the bread which I will give is my flesh, for the life of the world.52 The Jews therefore strove one with another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?53 Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have not life in yourselves.54 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.56 He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me, and I in him.57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live because of me.58 This is the bread which came down out of heaven: not as the fathers ate, and died; he that eateth this bread shall live for ever.59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?61 But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said unto them, Doth this cause you to stumble?62 What then if ye should behold the Son of man ascending where he was before?63 It is the spirit that giveth life; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you are spirit, and are life.64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.65 And he said, For this cause have I said unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it be given unto him of the Father.66 Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.67 Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away?68 Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.69 And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God.70 Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?71 Now he spake of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

Johannes 6

Jesus gibt einer großen Menschenmenge zu essen

1 Einige Zeit später fuhr Jesus mit dem Boot auf die Ostseite tdes Sees von Galiläa (auch See von Tiberias genannt).2 Große Menschenmengen folgten ihm dorthin, weil sie die Wunder sahen, die er an den Kranken tat.3 Er stieg auf einen Berg tund setzte sich dort mit seinen Jüngern.4 Es war kurz vor den Tagen, in denen die Juden ihr Passafest feierten.
5 Als Jesus tdie Menschenmenge sah, die zu ihm kam, fragte er Philippus: »Wo können wir so viel Brot kaufen, dass alle diese Leute zu essen bekommen?«6 Jesus wollte ihn mit dieser Frage auf die Probe stellen; er selbst wusste genau, was er tun wollte.7 Philippus entgegnete: »Selbst für zweihundert Denare würde man nicht genug Brot bekommen, um jedem auch nur ein kleines Stück zu geben.«8 Ein anderer Jünger, Andreas, der Bruder von Simon Petrus, sagte zu Jesus:9 »Hier ist ein Junge, der hat fünf Gerstenbrote und zwei Fische. Aber was ist das schon für so viele Menschen?«
10 »Sorgt dafür, dass die Leute sich setzen«, befahl Jesus. Der Ort, an dem sie sich befanden, war dicht mit Gras bewachsen. Als alle sich gesetzt hatten (die Zahl der Männer belief sich auf etwa fünftausend) t,11 nahm Jesus die Brote, dankte Gott dafür und ließ sie unter die Menge austeilen. Mit den Fischen machte er es genauso, ´und jeder aß,` so viel er wollte.12 Als die Leute satt waren, sagte er zu seinen Jüngern: »Sammelt auf, was übrig geblieben ist, damit nichts verdirbt.«13 Die Jünger sammelten die Reste auf, die von den fünf Gerstenbroten übrig geblieben waren, nachdem alle davon gegessen hatten, und füllten zwölf Körbe damit.
14 Als die Leute begriffen t, was für ein Wunder Jesus getan hatte, sagten sie: »Das ist wirklich der Prophet, ´von dem es heißt, dass` er in die Welt kommen soll!«15 Jesus wusste t, dass sie als nächstes kommen und versuchen würden, ihn mit Gewalt tzum König zu machen. Deshalb zog er sich wieder auf den Berg zurück, um allein zu sein.

Jesus geht auf dem Wasser

16 Als es Abend wurde, gingen die Jünger zum See hinunter,17 stiegen ins Boot und fuhren los; sie wollten auf die andere Seite des Sees nach Kafarnaum. Inzwischen war es dunkel geworden, und Jesus war noch nicht wieder zu ihnen gekommen.18 Zudem kam ein starker Wind auf, und das Wasser schlug hohe Wellen.19 Die Jünger waren etwa fünf bis sechs Kilometer tweit gerudert t, als sie plötzlich Jesus sahen, wie er auf dem Wasser ging und auf ihr Boot zukam. Da packte sie die Angst.20 Aber er rief ihnen zu: »Ich bin's! Habt keine Angst!«21 Voller Freude nahmen sie ihn zu sich ins Boot, und tda waren sie auch schon an dem Ufer, das sie erreichen wollten.

Die Menschenmenge sucht Jesus

22 Die Menschenmenge, die auf der anderen Seite des Sees geblieben war, ´fragte sich` am nächsten Morgen, ´wo Jesus wohl sein könnte`. Sie hatten ja gesehen, dass nur ein einziges Boot am Ufer gelegen hatte und dass die Jünger damit abgefahren waren t, ohne dass er zu ihnen ins Boot gestiegen war.23 Inzwischen kamen von Tiberias andere Boote herüber und legten in der Nähe der Stelle an, wo die Menge nach dem Dankgebet des Herrn das Brot gegessen hatte.24 Als die Leute schließlich merkten, dass Jesus nicht mehr da war und seine Jünger auch nicht, stiegen sie in diese Boote und setzten nach Kafarnaum über, um ihn dort zu suchen.25 Und auf der anderen Seite des Sees fanden sie ihn dann auch. »Rabbi«, fragten sie ihn, »wann bist du denn hierher gekommen?«

Jesus Christus - das Brot des Lebens

26 Jesus entgegnete: »Ich will euch sagen, warum ihr mich sucht: Ihr sucht mich nur, weil ihr von den Broten gegessen habt und satt geworden seid. Aber was Gott euch durch die Wunder sagen will, wollt ihr nicht verstehen. t27 Statt euch nur um die vergängliche Nahrung zu kümmern, bemüht euch um die Nahrung, die Bestand hat und das ewige Leben bringt t. Diese Nahrung wird euch der Menschensohn geben, denn ihn hat Gott, der Vater, als seinen Bevollmächtigten bestätigt t.«
28 Da fragten sie ihn: »Was für Dinge müssen wir denn tun, um Gottes Willen zu erfüllen t?«29 Jesus antwortete: »Gottes Wille wird dadurch erfüllt t, dass ihr an den glaubt, den er gesandt hat.«
30 Doch nun sagten sie: »Wenn wir dir glauben sollen, ´dass du von Gott gesandt bist,` dann lass uns ein Wunder sehen, das es uns beweist. Wo bleibt dieser Beweis?31 Damals in der Wüste haben unsere Vorfahren Manna gegessen, wie es ja auch in der Schrift heißt: >Brot vom Himmel gab er ihnen zu essen.< t«32 Jesus erwiderte: »Ich sage euch: Das Brot vom Himmel hat euch nicht Mose gegeben; es ist mein Vater, der euch das wahre Brot vom Himmel gibt. t33 Denn das Brot, das Gott gibt, tist der, der vom Himmel herabkommt und der Welt das Leben schenkt.«
34 »Herr«, sagten sie da zu ihm, »gib uns immer von diesem Brot!«35 Jesus antwortete: »Ich bin das Brot des Lebens. Wer zu mir kommt, wird nie mehr hungrig sein, und wer an mich glaubt, wird nie mehr Durst haben.36 Aber es ist, wie ich euch schon gesagt habe: Trotz allem, was ihr von mir gesehen habt t, glaubt ihr nicht.37 Alle, die der Vater mir gibt, werden zu mir kommen, und wer zu mir kommt, den werde ich nicht hinausweisen.38 Denn ich bin nicht vom Himmel herabgekommen, um das zu tun, was ich selber will, sondern um den Willen dessen zu erfüllen, der mich gesandt hat.39 Und der Wille dessen, der mich gesandt hat, ist, dass ich von all denen, die er mir gegeben hat, niemand verloren gehen lasse, sondern dass ich sie an jenem letzten Tag vom Tod auferwecke.40 Ja, es ist der Wille meines Vaters, dass jeder, der den Sohn sieht und an ihn glaubt, das ewige Leben hat; und an jenem letzten Tag werde ich ihn auferwecken.«
41 Die Juden waren empört darüber, dass Jesus gesagt hatte: »Ich bin das Brot, das vom Himmel herabgekommen ist.«42 »Ist das nicht Jesus, der Sohn von Josef?«, sagten sie. »Wir kennen doch seinen Vater und seine Mutter! Wie kann er da behaupten, er sei vom Himmel herabgekommen?«
43 »Warum seid ihr so empört?«, sagte Jesus zu ihnen. »Hört auf, so zu reden! t44 Niemand kann von sich selbst aus zu mir kommen. Der Vater, der mich gesandt hat, muss ihn zu mir ziehen. Und wer zu mir kommt, den werde ich an jenem letzten Tag auferwecken.45 Es heißt in der Schrift bei den Propheten: >Sie werden alle von Gott selbst gelehrt sein.< tJeder, der auf das hört, was der Vater sagt, und von ihm lernt, kommt zu mir.46 Das heißt nun aber nicht, dass irgendjemand den Vater gesehen hat. Nur der eine, der von Gott kommt, hat den Vater gesehen.47 Ich versichere euch: Wer glaubt, hat das ewige Leben.48 Ich bin das Brot des Lebens.49 Eure Vorfahren, die in der Wüste das Manna gegessen haben, sind gestorben.50 Hier aber ist das ´wahre` Brot, das vom Himmel herabkommt: Wer davon isst, wird nicht sterben. t51 Ich bin das lebendige Brot, das vom Himmel herabgekommen ist. Wenn jemand von diesem Brot isst, wird er ewig leben. Dieses Brot, das ich ihm geben werde, ist mein Fleisch; ich gebe es hin für das Leben der Welt.«
52 Unter den Juden kam es daraufhin zu einer heftigen Auseinandersetzung. »Wie kann dieser Mensch uns sein Fleisch zu essen geben?«, fragten sie.53 Jesus aber sagte zu ihnen: »Ich versichere euch: Wenn ihr das Fleisch des Menschensohnes nicht esst und sein Blut nicht trinkt, habt ihr das Leben nicht in euch.54 Wer mein Fleisch isst und mein Blut trinkt, hat das ewige Leben, und ich werde ihn an jenem letzten Tag auferwecken.55 Denn mein Fleisch ist die wahre Nahrung, und mein Blut ist der wahre Trank t.56 Wer mein Fleisch isst und mein Blut trinkt, der bleibt in mir, und ich bleibe in ihm.57 Der Vater, der lebendige ´Gott`, hat mich gesandt, und ich lebe durch ihn t. Genauso wird auch der, der mich isst, durch mich tleben.58 Das ist also das Brot, das vom Himmel herabgekommen ist. Bei diesem Brot ist es nicht wie bei dem, das die Vorfahren gegessen haben. Sie sind gestorben; aber wer dieses Brot isst, wird ewig leben.«
59 Diese Dinge sagte Jesus, als er in der Synagoge von Kafarnaum lehrte.

Viele Jünger wenden sich von Jesus ab

60 Empört tsagten viele seiner Jünger: »Was er da redet, ist eine Zumutung! Wie kann man von jemand verlangen, sich so etwas anzuhören?«61 Jesus war sich bewusst, dass die Jünger über seine Worte empört waren. »Daran nehmt ihr Anstoß? t«, fragte er sie.62 »Und ´was werdet ihr sagen,` wenn ihr den Menschensohn in den Himmel tzurückkehren seht, dorthin, wo er vorher war?63 Der Geist ist es, der lebendig macht; das Fleisch ist dazu nicht fähig t. Die Worte, die ich zu euch geredet habe, sind Geist und sind Leben.64 Aber es sind einige unter euch, die glauben nicht.« Jesus wusste nämlich von Anfang an, wer die waren, die nicht glaubten, und wusste auch, wer es war, der ihn verraten würde.65 Er schloss mit den Worten: »Aus diesem Grund habe ich zu euch gesagt: Niemand kann von sich selbst aus zu mir kommen; es kann nur durch das Wirken des Vaters geschehen t.«
66 Von da an tzogen sich viele seiner Jünger von ihm zurück und begleiteten ihn nicht mehr.

Das Bekenntnis des Petrus

67 Da fragte Jesus die Zwölf: »Wollt ihr etwa auch weggehen?« -68 »Herr, zu wem sollten wir gehen?«, antwortete Simon Petrus. »Du hast Worte, die zum ewigen Leben führen,69 und wir glauben und haben erkannt, dass du der Heilige bist, den Gott gesandt hat. t«70 Daraufhin sagte Jesus zu ihnen: »Habe ich nicht teuch alle zwölf erwählt? Und doch ist einer von euch ein Teufel!«71 Er meinte damit Judas, den Sohn von Simon Iskariot t. Denn Judas, einer der Zwölf, war es, der ihn später verriet.
