John 8

1 but Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.3 And the scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst,4 they say unto him, Teacher, this woman hath been taken in adultery, in the very act.5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her?6 And this they said, trying him, that they might have whereof to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.7 But when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.8 And again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.9 And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.10 And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee?11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go thy way; from henceforth sin no more.12 Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest witness of thyself; thy witness is not true.14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Even if I bear witness of myself, my witness is true; for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye know not whence I come, or whither I go.15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.16 Yea and if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.17 Yea and in your law it is written, that the witness of two men is true.18 I am he that beareth witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.19 They said therefore unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me, nor my Father: if ye knew me, ye would know my Father also.20 These words spake he in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man took him; because his hour was not yet come.21 He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: whither I go, ye cannot come.22 The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, that he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come?23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.25 They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? Jesus said unto them, Even that which I have also spoken unto you from the beginning.26 I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you: howbeit he that sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these speak I unto the world.27 They perceived not that he spake to them of the Father.28 Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.29 And he that sent me is with me; he hath not left me alone; for I do always the things that are pleasing to him.30 As he spake these things, many believed on him.31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples;32 and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.33 They answered unto him, We are Abraham’s seed, and have never yet been in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin.35 And the bondservant abideth not in the house for ever: the son abideth for ever.36 If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.37 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.38 I speak the things which I have seen with my Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from your father.39 They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham.41 Ye do the works of your father. They said unto him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.43 Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.45 But because I say the truth, ye believe me not.46 Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I say truth, why do ye not believe me?47 He that is of God heareth the words of God: for this cause ye hear them not, because ye are not of God.48 The Jews answered and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?49 Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me.50 But I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my word, he shall never see death.52 The Jews said unto him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death.53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died: whom makest thou thyself?54 Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father that glorifieth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God;55 and ye have not known him: but I know him; and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be like unto you, a liar: but I know him, and keep his word.56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; and he saw it, and was glad.57 The Jews therefore said unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was born, I am.59 They took up stones therefore to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.

Jesus und die Frau, die beim Ehebruch ertappt wurde: Freispruch statt Verurteilung

1 Jesus aber ging zum Ölberg.2 Früh am Morgen war Jesus wieder im Tempel. Das ganze Volk versammelte sich um ihn, und er setzte sich und begann zu lehren.
3 Da kamen die Schriftgelehrten und die Pharisäer mit einer Frau, die beim Ehebruch ertappt worden war. Sie stellten sie in die Mitte, sodass jeder sie sehen konnte.4 Dann wandten sie sich an Jesus. »Meister«, sagten sie, »diese Frau ist eine Ehebrecherin; sie ist auf frischer Tat ertappt worden.5 Mose hat uns im Gesetz befohlen, solche Frauen zu steinigen. Was sagst du dazu?«
6 Mit dieser Frage wollten sie Jesus eine Falle stellen, um dann Anklage gegen ihn erheben zu können. Aber Jesus beugte sich vor und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde.7 Als sie jedoch darauf bestanden, auf ihre Frage eine Antwort zu bekommen, richtete er sich auf und sagte zu ihnen: »Wer von euch ohne Sünde ist, der soll den ersten Stein auf sie werfen.«8 Dann beugte er sich wieder vor und schrieb auf die Erde.9 Von seinen Worten getroffen t, verließ einer nach dem anderen den Platz; die ältesten unter ihnen gingen als Erste. Zuletzt war Jesus allein mit der Frau, die immer noch da stand, wo ihre Ankläger sie hingestellt hatten t.
10 Er richtete sich auf. »Wo tsind sie geblieben?«, fragte er die Frau. »Hat dich keiner verurteilt?« -11 »Nein, Herr, keiner«, antwortete sie. Da sagte Jesus: »Ich verurteile dich auch nicht; du darfst gehen. Sündige von jetzt an nicht mehr!«

Jesus Christus - das Licht der Welt

12 Ein anderes Mal, als Jesus tzu den Leuten sprach, sagte er: »Ich bin das Licht der Welt. Wer mir nachfolgt, wird nicht mehr in der Finsternis umherirren, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.«
13 Da sagten die Pharisäer zu ihm: »Du redest als Zeuge in eigener Sache. Was du sagst, ist nicht glaubwürdig t.«14 Jesus erwiderte: »Auch wenn ich als Zeuge in eigener Sache rede, ist das, was ich sage, wahr. Denn ich weiß, woher ich gekommen bin und wohin ich gehe. Ihr aber wisst weder, woher ich komme, noch, wohin ich gehe.15 Ihr urteilt nach menschlichen Maßstäben t; ich urteile über niemand.16 Wenn ich aber doch ein Urteil ausspreche, dann ist mein Urteil richtig t. Denn ich handle nicht allein, sondern ´in Übereinstimmung` mit dem, der mich gesandt hat, dem Vater.17 Ineurem Gesetz heißt es: Wenn zwei Zeugen in ihrer Aussage übereinstimmen, ist das, was sie sagen, glaubwürdig. t18 ´So ist es auch hier:` Ich bin mein eigener Zeuge, und mein Vater, der mich gesandt hat, ist ebenfalls mein Zeuge.« -19 »Wo ist denn dein Vater?«, fragten sie. Jesus entgegnete: »Ihr kennt weder mich noch meinen Vater. Würdet ihr mich kennen, dann würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen.«
20 Jesus lehrte im Tempel in der Nähe des Kastens für die Geldopfer t, als er diese Dinge sagte. Aber niemand nahm ihn fest; seine Zeit war noch nicht gekommen.

Woher Jesus kommt und wohin er geht

21 Jesus wandte sich von neuem an seine Zuhörer. »Ich werde fortgehen«, sagte er. »Ihr werdet mich suchen, aber da, wo ich hingehe, könnt ihr nicht hinkommen; ihr werdet in eurer Sünde sterben.«
22 »Will er sich etwa das Leben nehmen?«, fragten sich die Juden. »Vielleicht sagt er deshalb: >Da, wo ich hingehe, könnt ihr nicht hinkommen.<«23 Doch Jesus fuhr fort: »Ihr seid von ´hier` unten, ich bin von oben. Ihr seid von dieser Welt, ich bin nicht von dieser Welt.24 Darum habe ich zu euch gesagt, dass ihr in euren Sünden sterben werdet. Glaubt an mich als den, der ich bin; wenn nicht, werdet ihr in euren Sünden sterben.« -25 »Wer bist du denn?«, fragten sie. Jesus antwortete: »Darüber habe ich doch von Anfang an zu euch gesprochen. t26 Was euch betrifft, hätte ich noch viel zu sagen, und es gäbe noch vieles, worin ich über euch zu urteilen hätte. Aber ich sage der Welt nur das, was ich von dem gehört habe, der mich gesandt hat; und was er sagt, ist wahr t.«
27 Sie begriffen nicht, dass Jesus über den Vater sprach.28 Deshalb sagte er zu ihnen: »Dann, wenn ihr den Menschensohn erhöht habt, werdet ihr mich als den erkennen, der ich bin, und werdet erkennen, dass ich nichts von mir selbst aus tue, sondern das sage, was mich der Vater gelehrt hat.29 Und er, der mich gesandt hat, ist bei mir. Er lässt mich nie allein, denn ich tue immer, was ihm gefällt.«
30 Als Jesus das sagte, glaubten viele an ihn.

Wirklich frei - nur durch Jesus

31 Zu den Juden, die nun an ihn glaubten, sagte Jesus: »Wenn ihr in meinem Wort bleibt, seid ihr wirklich meine Jünger,32 und ihr werdet die Wahrheit erkennen, und die Wahrheit wird euch frei machen.«
33 »Wir sind Nachkommen Abrahams«, entgegneten sie, »wir haben nie jemand als Sklaven gedient. Wie kannst du da sagen: >Ihr müsst frei werden<?«34 Jesus antwortete: »Ich sage euch: Jeder, der sündigt, ist ein Sklave der Sünde.35 Ein Sklave gehört nur vorübergehend zur Familie t, ein Sohn dagegen für immer.36 Nur wenn der Sohn euch frei macht, seid ihr wirklich frei.«

Kinder Abrahams oder Kinder des Teufels?

37 »Ich weiß, dass ihr Nachkommen Abrahams seid. Und trotzdem trachtet ihr mir nach dem Leben. Das kommt daher, dass ihr euch meinem Wort gegenüber verschließt.38 Ich rede von dem, was ich beim Vater gesehen habe. Und auch ihr habt einen Vater, auf dessen Anweisungen ihr hört.«
39 »Unser Vater ist Abraham«, erwiderten sie. Jesus entgegnete: »Wenn ihr wirklich Kinder von Abraham wärt, würdet ihr auch so handeln twie Abraham.40 Stattdessen wollt ihr mich töten - mich, der ich euch die Wahrheit sage, wie ich sie von Gott gehört habe. So etwas hätte Abraham nie getan.41 Ihr handelt eben genau wie euer ´wirklicher` Vater.«
»Wir sind doch keine unehelichen Kinder t!«, protestierten sie. »Wir haben nur einen Vater, und das ist Gott.«42 Jesus erwiderte: »Wenn Gott euer Vater wäre, würdet ihr mich lieben. Denn von Gott bin ich zu euch gekommen, nicht im eigenen Auftrag; Gott ist es, der mich gesandt hat.43 ´Aber ich kann euch sagen,` warum mein Reden für euch so unverständlich ist und wie es kommt, dass ihr gar nicht fähig seid t, auf mein Wort zu hören:44 Ihr stammt vom Teufel; der ist euer Vater. Und was euer Vater wünscht, das führt ihr bereitwillig aus. tEr war von Anfang an ein Mörder und stand nie auf dem Boden tder Wahrheit, weil es in ihm keine Wahrheit gibt. Wenn er lügt, redet er so, wie es seinem ureigensten Wesen entspricht; denn er ist ein Lügner, ja er ist der Vater der Lüge.45 Ich aber sage die Wahrheit, und gerade das ist der Grund, weshalb ihr mir nicht glaubt.46 Wer von euch kann behaupten, ich hätte je eine Sünde begangen t? Wenn ich aber die Wahrheit sage, warum glaubt ihr mir dann nicht?47 Wer von Gott stammt, hört auf das, was Gott sagt. Ihr hört deshalb nicht darauf, weil ihr nicht von Gott stammt.«

Jesus Christus - größer als Abraham

48 »Haben wir nicht Recht?«, riefen da die Juden. »Du bist ein Samaritaner und bist von einem Dämon besessen t, genau wie wir es gesagt haben.« -49 »Nein«, entgegnete Jesus, »ich bin nicht von einem Dämon besessen; ich ehre meinen Vater. Ihr aber tretet meine Ehre mit Füßen.50 Doch ich brauche sie nicht zu verteidigen. tEs ist einer da, der das tut, und er ist auch der Richter.51 Eins aber versichere ich euch: Wenn jemand sich nach meinem Wort richtet, wird er niemals sterben t.«
52 »Jetzt sind wir sicher, dass du von einem Dämon besessen bist!«, triumphierten die Juden. »Abraham ist gestorben, die Propheten sind gestorben, und du behauptest, wenn einer sich nach deinem Wort richte, werde er niemals sterben t.53 Bist du etwa mehr als unser Vater Abraham und die Propheten, die alle gestorben sind? Für wen hältst du dich eigentlich?«54 Jesus erwiderte: »Wenn ich mir selbst eine solche Ehre anmaßen würde, wäre sie nichts wert. Aber nun ist es mein Vater, der mich ehrt - er, von dem ihr sagt, er sei euer Gott.55 Und dabei habt ihr ihn nie gekannt; ich dagegen kenne ihn. Würde ich behaupten, ihn nicht zu kennen, dann wäre ich ein Lügner wie ihr. Aber ich kenne ihn und richte mich nach seinem Wort.56 Abraham, euer Vater, sah dem Tag meines Kommens mit jubelnder Freude entgegen. tUnd er hat ihn erlebt und hat sich darüber gefreut. t«
57 Die Juden entgegneten: »Du bist noch keine fünfzig Jahre alt und willst Abraham gesehen haben?«58 Jesus gab ihnen zur Antwort: »Ich versichere euch: Bevor Abraham geboren wurde, bin ich.«59 Da hoben sie Steine auf, um ihn zu steinigen. Aber Jesus konnte sich vor ihnen in Sicherheit bringen tund verließ den Tempel.
