God Tests the Righteous
Ps. 11:4-5: "The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth."
Why does God test the righteous? God tests the righteous in order to purify them. We are not automatically perfect after becoming Christian. God still has a work to do in us. It is a work of purification. A work that is necessary so that we can reflect the character of Christ in our lives, and so that we may be prepared for God's coming kingdom of righteousness.
There is no better way for God to purify us than to allow us to be put into situations which reveal our defects. Then our defects will be made plain to us; and when we recognize them, we can begin to correct them. This correction consists of praying to God for strength to overcome them, and a conscious effort on our part to do so.
