Jonah Arose
Jonah was just vomited out of the belly of a giant fish. When it says that he arose, it means that he got up and tried to peel the fish vomit off of his skin and probably had to get a new pair of clothes.
I wonder if this book would have made it into the Bible if this is how it would have started.
Could it be that it was included because it shows a piece of all of us in it? Jonah's reluctance and fear lives in all of us from time to time.
So after much conflict, Jonah arose and went to Nineveh.
