Luke 11:52

Jesus says the experts of the law had taken away the key to knowledge. How did they do that? They used knowledge to take away the key to knowledge. Jesus is saying they took the key to the knowledge of GOD. He is speaking of intimate and personal knowledge of GOD. The teachers of the law used man's knowledge of facts and memorized data to remove the intimate, personal knowledge of GOD. They have all the facts and Scripture memorized but they don't know the Author of the Scripture and they drag people down into following their ways.

I need a hunger for the Word of GOD that helps me to know GOD more intimately. Simply having the Bible memorized does nothing if I don't deepen my relationship with the Author. Satan has the entire Bible memorized so mere memorization means nothing. Memorization is a small part but above all I must have an unquenchable desire to know GOD more deeply and more personally through His Word.

GOD of the Word, You are wonderful! You are too wonderful for me ever to understand or comprehend. I worship You. Please forgive me when I seek man's knowledge instead of intimate knowledge of You. Please forgive my arrogance in wanting to know more facts about You to impress others rather than wanting to know You more intimately. Please have mercy on me and lead me into a deeper relationship with You. I want to have an unquenchable desire to love You more deeply every day and to love those around me with Your love. May pride and arrogance be torn from me so that You may shine forth in my life. All glory and honor be Yours. I love You. In Jesus' name amen.
