Motto text 2013

The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom!!

Many people have a motto that they live by such as live every day as if it were your last. There is nothing wrong with having a motto as long as it is a good one.

Proverbs 9 verse 10 is a worthy motto for life never mind this year.

Wouldn't our community be a much different place if we all used this motto. Our own lives would be so different.

Three questions.

1/ what is the fear of The Lord?

What does this mean. Only if we understand this will we understand the rest of the verse.
The fear of The Lord is the disposition of reverence towards God, which flows directly from our knowledge of Him.

In others words it is an attitude of the heart. It is a continual ongoing attitude. It is an attitude of awe toward our maker. God is awesome. He is all knowing and all wise. We should tremble before Him. How rare is that? Many instead ignore God. Many attack Him. To fear God is logic but unfortunately we don't know Him as we should and so don't fear Him as we should.

The person who knows The Lord will surely fear Him and the person who fears The Lord surely knows Him.

Do you know God? Come to know Him in this new year. Come to God through His Son, Jesus Christ and His work on that cross at Calvary. He paid the penalty that our sins deserve. You and I can know God!!

2/. What blessing comes from The Fear of The Lord?

We will be wise. The person who fears The Lord will become wise. What a worthy but neglected goal. We want to be rich we want to be popular we want to be happy but how many want to be wise. We can have knowledge but live like a fool. We need to live in light of our knowledge. We need to watch the choices we make. Wisdom is skill in the art of godly living. Not just in some parts of our lives but in our complete life. This is a goal we should all be aiming for. We should want to grow in wisdom. We begin life as fools but should grow in wisdom. The wise can add to their learning. First we must fear God. No man is wise until he fears The Lord, and he that does so is a wise man, at least he begins to be one.

3/. What I'd we don't fear The Lord?

What if we have no more thought of God after reading this? What will be the result if you refuse to live in awe of The Lord?

We will in all likelihood live foolishly if we don't fear Him. We will make foolish choices. We will not be a success in Gods's eyes. Maybe in man's eyes but not Gods.
If we don't embrace this verse we will live like a fool.
If we don't fear Him most likely we are not truly His children. We all can have bad days but if we totally live our lives without conscience of what God thinks we have to question our Christianity. If that is you be concerned. It is a good thing to be in fear of Gods's judgement. That will surely drive you to the cross.
May you come to Christ today and repent of your sin and put your trust in Him.

The Fear of The Lord is the foundation of wisdom.
