Israel so badly wanted to be like the other nations. They didn't want to stand out and be unique like God wanted them to be; they wanted to follow the mold. This story of Isreal requesting a king, makes me think about all the time I just wanted to be normal and not be seen. Sometimes being like everyone else in not all that it is cracked up to be. If you are like everyone else, what makes you different. When we accept Christ into our lives, we are different we are set apart. We should embrace this; not hate it like the Israelites did. Being set apart from the world comes with so many blessings. We no longer have the feeling of death that this world has we are free to live, we have a God that loves us, we have hope, forgiveness and most of all LOVE. If we were like everyone else in this world we would not have the love that we do now. Just like when Israel wanted to be like the world they lost their hope and faith in God.
