Gap

StandIng in the gap for others consists of:

* Fighting against the enemy, by praying for protection over them.
*Warning God's people to repent of their sins.
*Pleading with God to have mercy on them.

It's important for us to intercede for people in need of prayer. When we do, it is called standing in the gap for them...

Definition of a “gap” = The space between what is and what God says ought to be.

What kind of gap is the prophet referring to in Ez22:23-30? In biblical times, almost every city had a wall around it for protection. A gap referred to a hole, or a breach in the wall that is due either to:

* Human neglect
* Continual battering assault from enemies
* Or both

In Ephesians 2 – Paul’s language about those who do not know Christ. “They are completely separate, cut off, excluded, dead and alienated, distant and far away That’s a lot of space- a huge gap!

When God sees the gaps – He sends a gap filler. Jesus Christ is God’s gap filler. He fills in those empty spaces and voids that are the consequences of our sin and disobedience to God.

When Satan sees gaps in our lives, he accuses and condemns us. We can fill in for them :)

In Luke 22, Jesus took Peter aside and tells him Satan has desired to have you, Jesus discerns a big gap in Peter’s life. Jesus goes on to say, “Peter I have prayed for you, that your faith will not collapse.” He stood in the gap for Peter.

Gaps in the lives of others are usually very evident to us as well. Its easy to judge, ignore, and condemn, but what we should be doing is praying for them...

How do you respond when you see gaps in the lives of others?
