II Peter 1:5-7 Steps to love
Lot of us take love too lightly! We associate an overwhelming attraction or a warm feeling to mean love. No wonder our current state is filled with so much broken, irresponsible, tainted, and selfish love. Peter shows us here that true love comes only by God and it takes our will and effort to achieve it. The road to love starts with faith. God gives us love! In fact, He is love. Without Him, there would be no love! More and more I see the news, more and more I realize this truth. In fact, I believe hell is a place without God, therefore, without love.
From faith, we have to desire to be good. And to be good, we need knowledge. We need to find out what it means to really, truly be good. Then, we need self control because knowledge without action is just a philosophy. Then we need to train, be persistent, and persevere. Only then we will know what bring godly is and what it means to truly care for someone. At the end of such training and habit of relying on God, do we begin to realize or get a glimpse of what true LOVE is!!!
