Are you compromising?
Joshua 15:1-63
Compromising God's WORD. They did it then and we do it today. And it's the reason they had problems.
And why we do too.
The army of Judah was not able to force out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, so the Jebusites still live among the people of Judah to this day. (Joshua 15:63 NCV)
God never said
"sort of...kind of -drive out the people. He said "get them out! "
A little bacteria can kill you.
A little sin can spread.
A little bitterness can turn to hate.
A little flirting can turn into a full blown affair.
God doesn't tell us to do things we cannot do. If the army of Judah failed to drive out the Jebusites, it wasn't because they couldn't.
The tribe of Judah got the land God had promised them. Each family group got part of the land. (Joshua 15:20 NCV)
It was theirs for the taking! God had already designated it to go to them!
Could it be that they weren't determined? Why would they lose their determination to drive these people out?
Possibly they became friendly with the enemy, and so they allowed them
to live among them.
We do that! We becomes friends with 'the enemy' thinking there's no harm in friendliness.
Soon we're sleeping with the enemy.
Before we know it our friendship with the enemy has turned into a dictatorship. We become slaves of the enemy, and the friendship turns sour. He has us in a stronghold. We are trapped! And, we never saw it coming!
I would guess that you will see problems arise in the chapters ahead with the Jebusites. The Bible is not telling us this for nothing! The Bible is telling us this to warn us what NOT to do, and what TO do!
Don't give up on what God has asked you to do!
Even if it seems too hard,
or harmless enough to just let it go!
Don't compromise His Word to you!
His Word is His WORD!
