Joshua 17:1-18
We want more land! God has blessed us!
Joseph's descendants said to Joshua, "Why did you give us only one tribal allotment as an inheritance? We have many people, because the Lord has been blessing us greatly." (Joshua 17:14 HCSB)
Oh, well then I've got just the land for you!
So Joshua answered them, “If you are a great people, then go up to the forest country and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and the giants, since the mountains of Ephraim are too confined for you.” (Joshua 17:15 NKJV)
Now wait s minute..did you say giants? We've heard about THOSE people! They're fighters, they've got great weapons! How about some other land?
The people of Joseph said, “It is true. The mountain country of Ephraim is not enough for us, but the land where the Canaanites live is dangerous. They are skilled fighters. They have powerful weapons in Beth Shan and all the small towns in that area, and they are also in the Valley of Jezreel.” (Joshua 17:16 NCV)
Well, you said God has blessed you! And yes, there are a lot of you!
If God has blessed you, don't you think He will bless you some more--in taking these people out and claiming your land?
You can do it! They're strong but you're stronger! You're blessed! Remember?
Now go...and take them ALL out!
So Joshua replied to Joseph's family (that is, Ephraim and Manasseh), "You have many people and great strength. You will not have just one allotment, because the hill country will be yours also. It is a forest; clear it and its outlying areas will be yours. You can also drive out the Canaanites, even though they have iron chariots and are strong." (Joshua 17:17, 18 HCSB)
They want more, but are they willing to pay the price! They're scared of new territory, new ground! They've heard things!
New ground is always exciting, but it can be scary!
A committment in marriage...
Having your first child,
Changing jobs...
Locating ....somewhere ...NEW!
You will hear of problems there!
Gangs on the streets!
Fewer churches!
Less job opportunities!
More sick people!
You may hear that there are ...giants there!
Don't go by what you hear....go by what God says! He's blessed you and He'll keep blessing you if you stay close to Him!
