He keeps His WORD
HE KEEPS HIS WORD
Joshua 21:1-45
The Lord promised and He came through. He promised the Israelites that they would live in houses they didn't build, filled with all kinds of good things!
Wells they didn't dig, and vineyards they didn't plant.
The Lord your God will bring you into the land of Canaan. He took an oath. He promised he would give the land to your fathers. He promised it to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The land has large, wealthy cities you didn't build. It has houses that are filled with all kinds of good things you didn't provide. It has wells you didn't dig. And it has vineyards and groves of olive trees you didn't plant. You will have plenty to eat. (Deuteronomy 6:10, 11 NIRV)
And now they're there, promises fulfilled!
How awesome did that seem? Going from desert to mountain top? From having the bare necessities to having it all!
God kept His Word! Did they doubt He would? But these blessings came with some rules attached.
Be sure to obey the Lord's commands. Follow the terms and rules he has given you. Do what is right and good in the Lord's eyes. Then things will go well with you. You will go in and take over the land. It's the good land the Lord promised with an oath to your people long ago. (Deuteronomy 6:17, 18 NIRV)
But it won't be long and the Israelites will forget this. They will worship other gods!
God brought them through so much! And now they have peace in the land!
The Lord gave them peace and rest on every side. That's what he had promised their fathers he would do. Not one of their enemies was able to fight against Israel and win. The Lord handed all of their enemies over to them. (Joshua 21:44 NIRV)
You can let everyone know Israel, that God kept His Word! Pass it down to your children!
Later on, your son might ask you, "What is the meaning of the terms, rules and laws the Lord our God has commanded you to obey?"
If he does, tell him, "We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt. But the Lord used his mighty hand to bring us out of Egypt. With our own eyes we saw the Lord send miraculous signs and wonders. They were great and terrible. He sent them on Egypt and Pharaoh and everyone in his house.
"But the Lord brought us out of Egypt. He planned to bring us into the land of Canaan and give it to us. It's the land he promised with an oath to our people long ago. (Deuteronomy 6:20-23 NIRV)
It may have seemed like God wasn't answering prayers, that He wasn't keeping His promises, and it does seem that way at times, but we can see that He kept His Word!
It's not our timing, but His!
It's not out ways, but His!
What He Promised He will do!
Be patient!
You may be in the desert now, but the mountain top is coming!
The Lord kept all of the good promises he had made to the people of Israel. Every one of them came true. (Joshua 21:45 NIRV)
Every single promise came true!
And they're coming true today! We can see the way things are lining up in the world today, that it's getting close to the end! He promised He would return for us one day... He hasn't forgotten us!
One day soon we will see Him in the clouds, and He will take us home with Him!
You can be assured of this...because
HE KEEPS HIS WORD!
