Are there monsters under the bed?

The movie Jaws can still get my heart racing! So the description of sea monster Leviathan in this chapter can do the same.

If it weren't for the bones of the dinosaurs they've dug up people might not believe this dragon like sea monster was real, but we know dinosaurs existed!

It's what children fear live under their beds and in their closets...monsters!
And we calm their fears and assure them there are no monsters.
But if we're honest, there is a monster and he desires to not only sleep under the bed, he wants the whole house!

God is telling Job there's no way he can stand up to Leviathan, a monster of a dinosaur, and it's looks like Leviathan is symbolic of the real monster -Satan!
God asks Job:

"Or can you pull in the sea beast, Leviathan, with a fly rod and stuff him in your creel?
Can you lasso him with a rope, or snag him with an anchor?
Will he beg you over and over for mercy, or flatter you with flowery speech?
Will he apply for a job with you to run errands and serve you the rest of your life?
Will you play with him as if he were a pet goldfish?
Will you make him the mascot of the neighborhood children?
Will you put him on display in the market and have shoppers haggle over the price?
Could you shoot him full of arrows like a pin cushion, or drive harpoons into his huge head?
(Job 41:1-7 MSG)

Could Job? Can you or I or anybody
tame Satan into just being a nice little demon the doesn't hurt us?
No, and we can't presume to even TRY!
God continues:

If you so much as lay a hand on him, you won't live to tell the story!
What hope would you have with such a creature?
Why, one look at him would do you in! If you can't hold your own against his glowering visage, how, then, do you expect to stand up to me?
Who could confront me and get by with it?
I'm in charge of all this—I run this universe!
(Job 41:8-11 MSG)

God and God alone has Satan groveling! Just as our Lord Jesus
stepped on the head of the old serpent Satan,

God told the serpent: "Because you've done this, you're cursed, cursed beyond all cattle and wild animals, Cursed to slink on your belly and eat dirt all your life.
I'm declaring war between you and the Woman, between your offspring and hers.
He'll wound your head, you'll wound his heel."
(Genesis 3:14, 15 MSG)

He also is the only one who can do it to Leviathan ...

You split open the sea by your power and broke the heads of the sea monster.
You smashed the heads of the monster Leviathan and gave it to the desert creatures as food.
(Psalms 74:13, 14 NCV)

The monster has messed with Job,
and Job is no match, not without God, and if he believes God has thrown him to the dogs, or the monsters... what hope is there?

We can't consider fighting in our own power! We will not win!
We need God! We need to believe He's here fighting those battles even when we can't hear Him or feel Him!

We can be honest with our children and tell them that the monster that wants to live in our home has no power to live there, unless we let him.
He doesn't have to be a unseen entity in our homes!
He may be enticed by the things we have in our home, he may take it as a invitation to come in when we open up the door with filthy things , movies, music, books ...
So keep the door closed!

Who can open the doors of his face, With his terrible teeth all around? (Job 41:14 NKJV)

He's vicious! He'll eat you alive!

Job must feel pretty small as God talks of this sea monster that is only under HIS control.
It's time to lay down any ego about how good you were.
There's no room for a self righteous attitude!
Check the pride at the door!

Because its what he feeds on!

Nothing else on earth is equal to it; it is a creature without fear.
It looks down on all those who are too proud; it is king over all proud creatures.”
(Job 41:33, 34 NCV)

Don't let him be king over you!
